After the Rain

“After the Rain” was born from loss, love, loneliness, and the hope of finding something beyond the pain.

We hope these songs remind you that you are not alone, that your life has purpose, and that you can stand again when you fall.

To those who have been with us through the years, and to those discovering this album for the first time, thank you for listening and for giving these songs a place in your lives.

Tracklist

  1. 01Running out of room…Instrumental
  2. Reaching out for anything, That’s reaching out for me.

Searching out for anything, While floating out to sea.

    It’s quiet now… overboard.

    Running out of energy,

    A thousand miles from heaven.

Coming home to everyone, Or soak a thousand days.

    It’s quiet now…overboard!

    I can’t go on!

    It’s quiet now… overboard!

    So where is the shore?

  3. What can I say? It’s been so long

Nothing to say? It’s been so long

Can you show me how to waiver,

    this science fiction curse?

Tonight I keep looking at the sky we used to talk about.

Silence is broken in pieces; I swear it was real,

    I heard you say my name. I wasn’t sure, I was half-awake,

    I was half-asleep!

You’ve shown me how to love.

Will you please, show me how to take it all back?

Can you show me how to waiver this science fiction curse?

A moment of tragedy comes when I open up my eyes.

Where is my “one true love?”

Where is the promise we spoke of?

When does “forever” mean “to walk away?”

    Where are you?

  4. 04In the distanceInstrumental
  5. Just another vagrant in this lonesome prison of faults,

I’ve been torn apart and faded, And left out in the cold,

In all this time I’ve taken advantage of everything,

    And I’m chasing a dream,

    Feeling the breeze,

I wish I could change it all tonight.

The weakest design will fall, The strong winds will carry on.

All along I’ve waited for the sunlight to clear the storm,

For a moment the light was breaking,

And like clockwork it was gone

All the while it was tainted, I wish this was never so,

    ’Cause I’m chasing a dream,

    Feeling the breeze,

I wish I could change it all tonight.

The weakest design will fall, The strong winds will carry on.

Why does it stay so somber?

    We almost had it all.

    We almost had it all.

Here I am now, confessing my love for everything

    (and it’s all in vain)

This is my side…. this is my side of everything

    (after the rain)

    We almost had it all.

  6. I crawled out of madness the other day, I’ve seen it fall apart.

The weight of lust along with guilt, has torn my heart a thousand times.

I’ve thought about it every time the lights went out, and sleep slowly takes away the feeling of you.

I’ve fought off the anger, it’s torn away, and I’ve wasted all my spark.

And here across the chest, the scar that marks the spot, where love was lost. It’s all been torn, torn away.

I’ve wasted off my heart, to give you all you ever want to run, And kill me, oh…Seems like the angels are flying away and all is lost!

Seems like they’re currently taking away all I’ve worked for here.

If you want a confession you’ll just have to wait, It seems life’s a lesson I’ll just have to take, And learn its design,

straightening the edges and fall face forward….here!

Seems like the angels are flying away and all is lost!

Seems like they’re currently taking away all I’ve worked for here.

The leader speaks; he has the floor.

It all began with love and ends with war, And all the fires burn ’til nothing’s left but ash.

Heal me, heal you, heal all….

Now it seems like the angels are flying away and all is lost!

Seems like they’re currently taking away all I’ve worked for here!

    And I’m still here!

  7. In the wake of December,

As I leave this year behind,

We search and wait for all these signs,

To point us to the other signs.

    She doesn’t end this silence with her screams;

    She hides

    It’s another December,

As we leave this year behind,

    We search and wait,

    Fall asleep,

    Leave the flesh behind.

She’s falling apart at the seams,

    Machines help her breathe.

    Can she even hear me?

    A chill comes over me…

It’s so strange to see that no one comes home,

    Since you’re not here anymore,

It’s so strange to see that nothing is wrong,

And nothing has changed at all.

  8. If the sun came up on the other side today; if so, why wasn’t I told?

If the stories were right, and we knew it all along; if so, why was I the last to know?

There’s nowhere left to go. We traded all our souls in for gold.

With a dreamer’s desire, a suitcase full of clothes, I’ll follow all the signs to the story never told.

These streets they burn like fire beneath my wounded soles.

My heart, it burns with desire, waiting for the chance to calm down.

If there’s nowhere left to go, if there’s nothing left to see, then why do I have the feeling that something has to be?

If the stories were right and we knew it all along; if so, why wasn’t I told?

With a dreamer’s desire, a suitcase full of clothes, I’ll follow all the signs to the story never told before.

“There’s nowhere left to go”…they say.

Does anyone out there fear the things I do? It’s true.

Does anyone out there hear the things I do? The truth, I swear it all. I fell off the mountain,

I rolled downhill, I stood back up and I climbed it again.

Now is anyone out there waiting?

Anyone out there waiting too? In search of a message, that’s winding up gears.

I fought the air crash that landed me here.

Now is anyone out there waiting?

Is anyone out there waiting too?

    On the horizon, smoke appears.

It’s only a short ride, but a hell of a walk down from here!

  9. Say you’ll try, if we wouldn’t make it known.

It’s certainly a side that I control and I…I hate.

Here’s the night, holding down the sun and making stars,

and chasing the crowd to their final wait.

It’s taken me over, breaking it all down in long divides.

It’s taken its toll, I’m trying and dying; believe this,

while you’re holding me by the hand. She don’t know, she won’t learn.

He opens the blinds to let all the light shine down,

She opens her wings, as he waits to shield her from the ground,

She just flew away, she couldn’t stay and comfort all.

It’s all been a dream…all been a dream ’til now.

    Because it’s taken me over,

No one should know this, then why should you?

It’s taken its role in choosing the wars that I choose and lose.

    She won’t…she won’t know you.

    She won’t…she won’t notice you.

She’s chosen that on this night she’ll leave his side alone.

All this time, it’s only a weight on me.

It’s only in your mind, it’s only in your mind.

It’s taken me over and no one should know…. what’s inside.

    It’s taken me nowhere…novice desire.

She is the heat in all this cold, with strength in folds.

She’s free, and more than I will know.

Show me how..just show me. Show me how…just show me.

Show me how to let you go. Show me how.. just show me.

Show me now! It’s taken me over, no one has to know.

  10. You were in my dreams tonight, And it seemed you almost floated around, with the greatest of ease.

We christened the night with visible fire, I watched you fall asleep

When it all came down it seemed…familiar.

I could feel your strength tonight, And it seems you’ve always thrown me around, with the greatest of ease.

I kept feeling your eyes breathing the fire, Watching me fall asleep.

When it all came down, it fell straight on top of me.

I don’t want to live in the moment; for the moment is gone!

I don’t want to live forever; forever’s too long.

I’ve seen enough to notice when I’ve been wrong, And I’ve seen enough to know when my heart is strong enough to move.
